My friends and I went for a 2-hour drive to Batangas City last weekend. We hardly knew our away around the city that it’s a huge miracle we didn’t get lost. Thanks to the friendly Batangueño folks, we were able to find our way to the places we wanted to visit. Among the tourist spots in Batangas, I especially enjoyed my time walking around The Basilica Immaculada Concepcion with my friends.
It’s just so beautiful. We all loved it!
The church is in the center of the city and just in front of a well-known park, the Plaza Mabini. It is also surrounded by century-old trees which makes the church appear somewhat hidden. The gothic interior of the Batangas Basilica looks kinda creepy but interesting especially to an outsider like myself. Found inside is a tri-centered arch with a niche containing the statue of the virgin Mary. The religious paintings on the wall, the hanging chandeliers, the religious statues, and the huge serene hall create an effective church-y atmosphere perfect for people seeking for spiritual solitude.
After a long day of travel and sight-seeing, my friends and I drove around Batangas City to find a hotel we could spend the night in. We had a hard time picking between Chateau Royale and Hotel Pontefino since both Batangas hotels are beautiful and affordable, but we ended up choosing the latter. We can try out Chateau Royale the next time we’re in Batangas.
Hotel Pontefino is said to be one of the newest hotels in Batangas with state-of-the-art amenities. I know this is true because my friends and I enjoyed their VERY LARGE infinity pool, their comprehensive recreational room, and their wide outdoor gym. We also enjoyed the sumptuous food served at their restaurant. All in all, I would recommend Hotel Pontefino’s excellent service to all the travelers out there.
After we checked out of Hotel Pontefino, we drove around Batangas City once more before finally heading back to Manila. We made it home by 10PM.
