Mag:Net Cafe: Art, Drinks, Food, Mags

“We’re already known as an artist’s place — it’s time we become known as a good food place,” says artist Rock Drilon, who started the Mag:Net chain of magazine stores back in 2001 at ABS-CBN’s The Loop. A few years later, he opened Magnet Cafe along Katipunan Avenue.

At Bonifacio High Street, the new commercial development at the back of Serendra Piazza, Rock aims to replicate this success. At this new Magnet Cafe, you walk up two flights and instantly find yourself inside a 220-sq m, high ceiling-ed space of Pinoy art and cuisine fusion.

To your left is an L-shaped bar, where you can enjoy over 150 potent cocktails concocted by a cool bartender. Next to the bar is a huge white wall of art pieces on sale.

The stage at the end of the space is where musicians and comedy acts perform, including the resident act SPIT (Silly People’s Improv Theatre), a hilarious improv comedy group headed by Gabe Mercado, which performs Tuesday nights.

Both lunch and dinner is served, and Chief Booj Supe describes the menu as Fili-Asian Oriental Cuisine — “Pinoy comfort food with a twist.”

With a menu that’s consistently good, a staff that’s professional and friendly and compelling nightly entertainment, it’s no surprise MagNet Cafe is already becoming a must-visit this side of town.

Mag:net Cafe Bonifacio High Street (2/L Building B3, Bonifacio Global City) is open on weekdays 10am to 12mn, and weekends 10am to 2am).
